PPG Heart Rate Monitor

Photoplethysmography-based heart rate monitoring system with real-time signal processing.

This project involved the development of a heart rate finger monitor using a Photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor. The system provides accurate, real-time heart rate measurement through advanced signal processing techniques.

Over the course of several laboratory sessions, I designed and implemented a system to measure the heart rate signal using the PPG method. The project entailed capturing the raw signal from the sensor, filtering out noise and artifacts, and processing the signal to accurately display the characteristic heartbeat waveform.

The system features sophisticated digital signal processing algorithms to extract clean heartbeat patterns from noisy sensor data. This includes bandpass filtering, peak detection, and heart rate variability analysis.

My role specifically focused on measuring the signal using the PPG method, designing filters to clean the signal, and developing algorithms to display the proper heartbeat signal.
